I have always thought that I had two choices in my life: to be a helpless victim of circumstances, or to take responsibility for my own existence. I had been in both of those places through my emigration from Europe to Canada, the almost five decades of my marriage, and crippling physical pain I’ve been living with for years.
I have come to appreciate and embrace what those circumstances taught me: strength, patience, compassion, focus and self-understanding. I know what to choose and I am passionate about sharing it with others through counselling.
I find my balance in meditation, in nature, and in music.
I do yoga, rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking and kayaking in the summer, and backcountry skiing in winter.
I love writing: read my blog and check out my latest book “Here We Go Again: A couple’s guide to happily ever after”.

My journey into psychology started on stage. Acting in Europe sparked my curiosity about human emotions, but after immigrating to Canada, building a new life took priority. Fifteen years (and a midlife crisis) later, I returned to that passion—this time, as a therapist.
I focus on the relationships that shape us—especially the one we have with ourselves. These connections define our sense of safety, belonging, and identity. I strive to be present, authentic, and open in every interaction. It’s not always easy or possible, but it makes all the difference for sure.
I was born in Czechoslovakia from a Polish father and a Silesian mother. In 1990 along with my wife and our son we embraced Canada as our new home.
Since 2014 I’m fortunate to live and work in Squamish, where I find balance in the outdoors—mountain biking, hiking, climbing, kayaking, and backcountry skiing. Yoga, tai chi, meditation—and yes, even tree hugging—help keep me grounded.
Because, well… this is Squamish
